Description:Want to learn website design, but can't think of anything to say? The hotel Castle Fictoria is providing all the information you need to build its website. Not bad, considering the place doesn't even exist. "It's all make-believe," says Sean McManus, the technology journalist behind the idea. "Once they've learned HTML or Frontpage, amateur website designers often struggle to find anything to put on their first website. So I've invented a hotel, created a brochure for it and sourced the photographs. Because the content is already prepared, designers can concentrate on the look and usability of the website." He adds "There's also a letter from the manager outlining what the hotel wants from its website, so the designer can simulate creating a website for a small business. There's no reason why Castle Fictoria shouldn't appear in a novice designer's portfolio, and I'd love to link to as many sites hosting an interpretation of the exercise as possible." The PDF brochure provides enough material for a website of about five pages and photographs can be downloaded in a separate zip file.
