3 Ways To Get Links

By Larry Johnson
http://www.bizsitebiz.com/

Linking to other sites related to yours is an important strategy for websites to boost their search engine position and increase their visibility online.

Here are some tips for locating other sites with whichyou may want to exchange reciprocal links.

-- SEARCH ENGINES

Simply do a search for keywords and terms which relate to your site and it's content.

Once you have found some appropriate sites and reviewed them, send the webmaster an invitation message which you have already created and saved in your drafts folder.

Your success with this will depend a lot on how you approach the sites. Your message, if possible, should include the name of the webmaster and the link to their site which you have already posted to your site. Your site's linking details that they will need to provide a reciprocal link to you.

-- LOCATE COMPETITOR'S LINKS

If you know who your competitor's are online, then you need to make some visits to their sites and find who they are linking to. Review these links and contact them about reciprocal links to your site.

They are more likely to reciprocate your links to their site since you have related content to a site with which they are already linked.

-- THIRD PARTY TOOLS

There are some very helpful third-party tools for locating linking partners. Some are fr*e. This one is not, but they do give you a demo to try out:

Alexa is a fr*e download which adds an enhanced Toolbar to your browser. Its most powerful feature is the ability to estimate how much traffic a given site receives. Invaluable when deciding who to approach for links.

-- MEASURE LINK POPULARITY

Link popularity is the total number of web sites that link to your site. Do you know who links to you now ?

Knowing who links to your site and increasing the number of quality links is an important part of any web site promotion effort. This fr*e service allows you to query Google, Altavista, and Hotbot and reports on link popularity.

In summary, there is a lot to learn about linking strategies. I recommend that you avoid the "link farms" that simply attempt to link everyone to you whether related or not. These can be detrimental to your site's success.

Best of luck with your promotional efforts...
