Strata 3D CX

The last five years has seen the boom of 3D graphics. There now are more capable applications with more power and features at more competitive prices like never before. Tools like Alias Maya, Discreet 3ds max, and Avid SoftImage XSI, have redefined what people expect to see in movies, commercials, and video games. But these tools are still expensive, hugely difficult to learn, and, frankly, overkill for the needs of most print and Web designers.

With above considerations in mind, we can choose a more affordable tool to suit our need especially if we are usually making print ads or web banners with minimal budget. A possible consideration would be the Strata 3D CX. There are other alternatives with competitive features with price ranges challenging that of Strata but Strata 3D CX is arguably a more user-friendly product particularly for designers familiar with the Adobe Photoshop interface. What looks like lack of features to power users will give novices and easy-to-use environment. Plus, Strata does turn out beautiful 3D images in skilled hands.

Strata 3D CX is good for motion graphics but still is no match to other advanced software mentioned above. Creating complex models using Strata can be a nightmare as its modeler is very limited and it lacks a UV editor. To summarize its limitations, Strata basically lack an updated design that can be used by advanced users.

It does have its merits aside from the mentioned handicaps. Strata can be a powerful tool for illustrators and web and video animators. It may have lagged behind in several aspects but it still boasts of a strong base in rendering and overall ease of use. This can be a welcome addition to your kit particularly for those who are creating 3D logos or type for Web or print or generating 3D artwork from Illustrator outlines.

A proper assessment of your needs and your budget can help you choose what is best suited for your graphic needs. It is you after all who will benefit from your decision.
